emulation ~ burning

I have the apu1, trying to emulate onto a 1228746(GM TBI) with a G2 adapter. I get a flickering light, high idle and no control. Is there an instruction sheet/link, detailed enough for a 15 year old to comprehend? I may not be, but my reading abilities aren't very strong.

do you happen to be running a socket booster? i think that's a requirement for emulation with most of the C3 ECMs...

I'm not using an ostrich system. I'm using the APU1.

From your description of your problem, flickering SES, then I would say that yes you do need the socket booster. The same thing happens with an Ostrich in the early TBI ECMs, when no socket booster is used.

Because not everyone that buys an Auto Prom has a '7747 (and similar ECM), or not everyone that is using a G2 adaptor is using an emulator.
