Controll options for FAST tbi ...

Post by fomogo »

Newbie here. I just picked up a fast tbi 4 injector throttle body on e-bay for a great price and want to use it on my 433" Ford FE stroker in my 60 T-Bird.
component list: 4ea. 85lb/hr high impedance injectors, all sensors are GM, map #307029, tps #307006, iat #307004, iac #307059. I could just buy the E-Z tune setup from FAST, but was hoping for a less expensive way to get there and be able to laptop tune. Can I use a GM or Ford ECU/ECC and are the correct connectors readily available to make up my own harness, or would it be easier to adapt an existing harness? Also which 02 and water temp sensors would you recommend. Please be gentle, just sticking my toes into these waters. Thanks, Mike

hmm.... i'm fairly certain that kind of setup could be run on a GM ECM...

since they run with high impedance injectors, you can use nearly any ECM actually...

i take it you're not planning on running a knock sensor?

I'm pretty sure your right as well, he mentioned that so I just threw out another option. My prefence would be a GM ECM, possibly a 16197427 would be a good choice.

I'd have to think about this one for a while.

The injectors on that TB are below the throttle plates, but spray at a central location.

I've also heard of many complaints from people about unequal fuel distribution due to the injector location and type.

If it were me, I'd likely sell that TB and go with a more convention MPFI layout.

Or run that as a MPFI?

It wouldn't be "MPFI," if you ran that TBI.

Well it's got four injectors so use a MPFI ECM? Or maybe an EBL and get it over with.

Well, I'm kinda thinking with only 4 injectors and being centrally located, that a TBI ECM, with it's pulse for every DRP, might be the best option, if that TB absolutely had to be used.
