BMW-XDF-Thanks

I must say thanks to the persons involved in putting the Bosch Definitions for the BMW ECUs together. They have been a great help, I had to make only a few adjustments to the xdf to get closer feedback for tuning my E36 M3 on various fuels. I have turbocharged the Engine and ran various fuels, E48, E43, E39. I must also thank the creator of Tuner Pro, keep up the good work.
Thanks Again

Hi,
Did you have any issues with tuning the stock dme when you turbo charged your car? Did you have to extend the tables for boost? Also what maf are you using?
Thanks

A significant drawback to tuning the stock DME is that its an eprom tuning so there is no way to log the feedback data, so you will have to put inplace means of knowing whats happening to engine; Wide-band, knock sensor, engine temp, etc. Adding to my difficulty is that I could get the moates emulator to work with the car.
I didn't extent the tables, just made minor adjustments to some AFR formulas. The X and Y parameters for the various maps were kept but the core of the maps were totally redone.
I'm using the stock 3" MAF sensor that comes on the 1995 USA M3.
Thanks,

Has anyone figured out the MAF table? I'm trying to swap in a HPX Blow-through MAF, I have the HPX flow-table in kg-hr/volt.

I'm just trying to figure out the MAF table of the 413, it's highest value with a 803 MAF is: 6183.0

What unit is 6183.0 in?

Enter this in the equation global table under the conversion tab.
X/3.1562283 it will convert it to KG/H

Thank you. How did you figure this out?

Also, it's remarkable how close that number is to Pi.

Also, I'm assuming if the Bin is opened in tunerpro that the upper left corner is 0 volts while the bottom right corner is 5 volts, and all the numbers in between are even increments between.

So since it's a 16x16 table=256 cells.

5 volts/256= 0.01953125 volt increments.

Then take your know MAF points of volts vs kg/hr create a calc equation for the curve and plot out the additional points at 0.01953125 increments and then enter those values back in the stock ecu.

Anything I'm missing?

yes 0 will be in the upper left corner. If you want to view the whole curve just change the table to 1X256

Are you referring to the xdf or tunerpro. Also how do I go about converting it to a 1x256 table?

Also has anyone figured out how to datalog the 413 ecu in tunerprort yet? That would be an amazing tool!

You need to edit the xdf. click on maf, edit than open rows and change the number of rows from 16 to 1. Then open columns and change the number of columns from 16 to 256. thats it.

now, now.. :P u did a ton for the DIY tuning community but u didnt do everything, i put in alot of time on the M20/M1.3 stuff and im in the process of making an XDF for the M40B18/M1.3 (387 ECU is what im working with but should work on any M40/M1.3 ECU).

been uber quiet recently but i havent fallen off the face of the earth, just no more i can do with the M20/M1.3 stuff since i still havent started my turbo build so i havent been around much.

Whomever writes the definitions, keep sending them to me and I'll keep posting them on the site!

will do mango :)

be a bit before i have as much sussed for this M40 XDF as i do for the M20 XDF i sent u a while back though.

have you considered hosting the XDF and an associated stock BIN file for that XDF? maybe put the two together in a zip file or something.. might be handy if someone cant get their hands on the file to match the XDF they download.
