ALDL "data dump" not working - unless I click

Post by rgmecm »

This is probably an easy one, but I can't figure it out...

I'm trying to build a new ALDL definition file for my grand prix. I entered everything correctly according to the definition I have here, a mode 1 message 0 dump.

Code: Select all

MODE 1 (TRANSMIT FIXED DATA STREAM) MESSAGE 0
                ALDL REQUEST:
                - MESSAGE ID = $E4
                - MESSAGE LENGTH = $57
                - MODE = $01
                - MESSAGE = $00
                - SUM CHECK

THE ECM WILL RESPOND WITH THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE:
                - MESSAGE ID = $E4
                - MESSAGE LENGTH = $99
                - MODE = $01
                - DATA BYTE 1
                  .
                  .
                - DATA BYTE 67
                - SUM CHECK
In tunerpro I entered all that, and it doesn't work. I get all 0's. But then, when I click on the "send command" in the ALDL setup for the mode 1 message 0, it gives me the data! Just one data capture from the data stream. Then it stops unless I click send command again.

Why is it not automatically receiving data? and yes, I have set the "associated message" to that above.

You need to set the command as the "master" and "monitor" command. Make sure there is only one master command in the definition.

Ahh, thanks for the tip. I guess I had everything set to "master".

So for something checking something that doesn't change regularly (i.e. code flags), would I set it to just "monitor"?

I hope it works. I'll check tomorrow. If it does, I can forward it to add to your collection. I think then you'd be the only one to support 94-95 "obd1.5" w bodies....
