Now to figure out if its the prom or the ecu. When you order a new ecu from a parts store. Does it generally come with a prom or are you expected to reuse the old one?

I have the case apart and it hooked up. If I wedge my finger between the prom and the case, it can get the check engine light to go off and the car runs normal.

Have the ecm in my hands as I write... I don't see any obvious sign on it, but I also don't know what I'd e looking for..

I've tried pulling codes with the paper clip between a and b and all I get is the default 12 code that flashes 3 times.
