Post by clancy »

Help please !, I just got GM ALDL OBD2 USB CABLES TO USE WITH MY 95 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE with obd1 with 16 pin connection . I installed the driver says comm 3 in device manager , ONE POST HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM SO I went to tools> preferences >data acquisition/emulation selected configure plug in component it gave 2 options one was port. already selected. did not give me a chance to tell it port 3. I HAVE IT HOOKED UP TO THE CAR AND AND AT THE TOP OF THE TUNERPRO PAGE IT SAYS TUMERPRO EXE AND NO XDF SELECTED AND ON THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE IT SAYS NOT EMULATING.... HARDWARE NOT FOUND ......NOT READY ......, DA NOT CONNECTED. ALSO I AM USING A 50 FOOT USB EXTENSION WITH REPEATER , COULD THAT BE THE PROBLEM ? I am lost . also not really good with the computer . ANY help would really be appreciated THANK YOU.

Have you ever tried to see this port (3) without the extension cable?

Yes , with the 6 foot cable hooked directly to the computer, device manager > port>usb serial port says com 3. Also , went to tunerpro page, tools> preference ... data acq .... configure plug in component...... 2 sides of that box LEFT side data acq... RIGHT side emulation... the only way I can select a port is on left side ... select plug in obd2 interface.. then I see com 3 .I don't have a lap top . THANKS

You haven't mentioned what ADS/ADX you're using to connect to the car with.

At the risk of appearing like a dumb as..what is that ? on the data acq box it had a check mark to notify of mismatch, no notification. I HOOKED BOTH CABLES TOGETHER AND DID THE TEST AND IT SAID CABLES WERE FOUND AND FUNCTIONING. ..... At the top of the tunerpro page it says TunerPro exe / no XDF selected . thanks

Dear Mangus

Is always necessary ADS/ADX to connect with the car? I don't know if you know that I'm having trouble to connect my ecu Motronic ME3.1 via ELM327...

Huge Hug!

Yes. In your case, Walter, use the ADX that's included in the ELM327 plug-in package (And I believe it's also pat of the TunerPro RT installation package.

In the other gentleman's case, he needs to download the proper ADS or ADX from the website, and load it into TunerPro (drag and drop it into the main window, for simplicity). Then try to connect.

OH MY GOD!

Just like the other noble gentleman, also ask your patience. After all I think I'm more newbie and jerk than other colleagues (and moreover speak Portuguese). But think fast learner, hehehe

Anyway, yesterday I re-formatted and re-installed Windows XP-SP3, imagining that the problem was that supposed bug. No problem, it is always very healthy. Today or tomorrow night (GMT -3 hours) I should have some news, hope POSITIVE ...

Well, this old gentleman here passed the first hurdle: "DA: Connected" !!!

But as not all flowers, I tried to load the XDF and BIN from ECU and nothing.

So I tried to read some engine parameters by "Main list" and... nothing.

Does not yet discovered some hidden secret?

What to do now? I ask for a step by step, please.

I got to get a little happy, but now I'm disappointed:

1) Today I connected again ("DA: Connected" in blue) at the same slow rate before (0.24~1.66 Hz) BUT the car key was OFF! Is that even possible or am I seeing a "ghost connection"?

2) I noticed that the Motronic Plugin loads both an Acquisition Interface as an Emulator Interface. So, I tried Initialize Emulation Hardware and nothing happened also.

3) I know I'm doing almost everything wrong, but where do I start to hit?

Help, please!

Oh, DANG!!

I clicked on "connect" with my ELM327 interface disconnected the car and ....................

"DA: Connected" ~ 40 Hz

Therefore, all lies ...

Can I "talk" to my ECU Bosch Motronic ME3.1, anyway?

Suggestions:

1) Stop with the all caps (please)
2) Make sure you do the cable test with the ignition off, or with the ALDL connector disconnected from the vehicle

Great, then your cable and COM port selections are correct. Now it's just a matter of ensuring you're using the right definition for your vehicle. Load the definition, plug the cable in, turn on the ignition, and hit the connect button in the toolbar (or menu option). If it doesn't connect the first time, try again. If it still doesn't connect, ensure you're using the right definition.
