383 TPI Vortec /TunerPro RT interface

Post by nrthrly »

:?: Greetings all! I've recently been hooked on the tuner world so please excuse my newbie question. Do I need to write a special command to dump the bin through the ALDL (Mode 3?) or is the command in TunerPro RT by default. Also where does the dump go? It is a "custom" chip I had burned for my set up, so I don't want to start with a downloaded stock bin. Thanks everyone!

That's a pretty advanced question for a newbie. Nice one. =)

TunerPro does not support Mode 3 or Mode 4. You'll have to read the stock chip. Or, better, find the bin on the Internets via the BCC labeled on the top of your chip.

Appreciate your response! Let me run this one by you. Obviously, I plan on going with Prominator, Autoprom, or some other emmulator, but am I going to be able to pull the bin with its mods to this point, into one of those set ups? Or should I start from scratch/ Thanks again for your time. BTW: I really would like to utilize TPRT, It's a very impresive app for a hobbyist developer!

You've modded the bin already? Or is this an aftermaket chip?

If the chip is already socketed, then you simply need to pull it out and read it with a burner (.e.g the BURN1 or the AutoProm). The AutoProm has the burner and emulator (and ALDL interface) in one unit, so it might be ideal.

Worst case, if it's not socketed and you have an integral calpak, then you need an HDR1 to adapt it to be read by the burner.

See www.moates.net for more information on the aforementioned hardware.

:? I should have mentioned it's a 16195395 memcal set up. I've actually ordered an Autoprom and HDR1 so I can finally dive into this. Thanks again for your input!

You mean 16196395. It's either a 0D or 0E mask.
