Hi, New user of Tunerpro but do have some other tuning experiance.

Read all documents on the issue but can't seem to get ports changed?

TunerPro doesn't seem to detect my ALDL cable. What's wrong?

Although TunerPro does automatically detect emulation hardware, TunerPro doesn't automatically detect ALDL cables (regardless of the type you use, including the Moates ALDU1). You need to specify the COM port your cable uses and set the cable type to Max232/2-Transistor.

I used to change these ports easily in XP, but now have Windows 7 and can't find any optins for this. Also looked in TunerPro.

I use the cable in WinALDL. TunerPro says it can see the cable, but no acquisition?[/list]

In TunerPro, under preferences, ALDL/Emu tab, select the proper COM port #. If you're using V5, you'll need to configure the plug-in and select the proper COM port there.

Thanks! Got it set and tested! Tryed to Stop/Start Data Scan and Aquire Data, both go to connecting but never do? I go into preferences and test the com port during this process and it fails?

Also opened WinALDL and it works everytime on com 8.

Could this be a bug with Windows 7?

Just as a FYI The company that sells the Pocket Programmer has no support or update for Windows 7. But other than that I have had no trouble with all my old XP stuff.

It's not a bug in Win7.

Are you using the proper definition for your vehicle? Your post lists no information regarding the vehicle nor the definition you're using.

Do the cable test with the cable disconnected from your vehicle (or with the key off for longer than 20 seconds). If it continues to fail, something else is wrong - check your settings (ensure you're using the same COM port # you're using in WinALDL).

What version of TunerPro are you using, V4 or V5?

com port test on 8 fails. This is the port that works in WinALDL. Also does not work in TunerPro RT

Cable test with vehicle on or off passes on com 3 but trying to connect just stays connecting? While it is connecting doing a cable test fails?

So COM8 fails in TunerPro, but works in WinALDL. Com3 succeeds in tunerpro test, but doesn't work in WinALDL? That doesn't add up.

What does the Windows device manager tell you?

Yup don't add up.

Device manager says device working properly. I can change the com port to one that matches TunerPro and still nothing. Now I have a AutoProm hooked up and TunerPro can't find it or it's data aqusistion? Computer says it's hooked up?

I have removed all USB devices and done a restart and all are reinstalled and working properly.

I have read everyones documentation till I puked! Then I went through and did it again. The documentation, settings, restarts, change com ports.....

TunerPro will only find the Autoprom if the AutoProm switch is not in passthrough mode. Make sure the switch is towards the USB connector.

Yup!

Also tryed both switches outside and no data.

Inside switch in and outside switch out and no emulation...

Com port in TunerPro set to same in device manager.

OK, if you're using the AutoProm for your acquisition, set TunerPro to "MAX232" mode (not AutoProm) and set the switch to the outside (away from the USB port). This puts the AutoProm in passthrough mode, which makes it act like a normal ALDL cable. Make sure the COM port is properly set in TunerPro. Close and re-open TunerPro (TunerPro will NOT detect the AutoProm), then attempt to connect.

Interface type in the ALDL/Emu preferences. If using TunerPro V5, select "Use Plug-in." Then configure the plug-in to use the proper COM port.

V5, plug-in, standard serial. V4 is max232.

That's where I have it. Standard Serial but now it only gives me one option com1 and it does not work?

Moates told me to place both switches in (not in instrutions) and TunerPro found the AutoProm! WooHoo!

But no data... BooHoo

If TunerPro is detecting the AutOprom, then you need to have the Data Acquisition settings set to "AutoProm."

Yes I tried but no good.

Walked away from it for a day. Went back and set to Com 4 in data acquisition and the old cable worked in TunerPro and WinALDL. then closed and shut down. Upon restart I went through the entire procedure and VIOLA!

AutoProm is Emulating and Acquiring!

Thank you for your time and helping me through this. Your work with this program and tuning has had a huge effect for the gearheads! Hope someday it will pay off for you! Personally you have brought a great deal of pleasure to my auto hobby!

I will talk to Moates about a registration key as TunerPro license is supposed to come with the AutoProm.
