Rev limiter vr6 ecu's
hi,
where can i find the rpm limiter for the vr6 ecu's?
thanx

thankyou tom, i will test this out asap.
I think BK and AF are the same.
because i did use the AF bin file, and it works in the BK engine.
Ok just tested, and now i wonder.. is it a 8bit of 16 bit map?
When i look at A378 i find the hexadecimal '03'
and in 16 bit mode in an hexeditor it says '0403'
that doesnt seem to fit a suitable rpm limit like the stock 6500.

The BK and AF are not the same. What i did, was change an CH ecu with some other ecu, but now i cant remember what ecu type..

so you changed it to 132 dec or hex?tom wrote:Yes stock value is 141, I don`t know formula but if you change value to 132 rev limit rise to 6800. Maybe you know where is rev limit in file from ECU 256?? It`s from 2.9 engine with distributor spark
If its a 2.9 engine with the code 256 i dont know.
if its a 2.9 engine with the code 258 AG we could probably find it...
AG software is the similair to the 2.8 vr6 258 AF.
its not exactly the same, fuel/spark is less agressive but the layout is the same.
magner quotes that the revlimiter in the AF is @ a35a.
so its should be at a35a for the AG aswell
I will post this on the forum also, so other people can use this info.
hi guys ive no idea on the exact formula ive been playing with google calc trying to make sence of it ive come up with this copy and paste into google
2750000 / (141 x 3)
try changing the 141 dec lower for a higher rev limit and see if it looks about right to you ?
2750000 / a378 x a379
ive not tested my revlimit because my car is in bits at moment
please post results

I cant test either, because i have to tune a BK ecu this weekend, but i only cannot change (and test) the rev limiter because i only get the ecu by mail.
interresting formula. i searcht the internet and came across an old porche diy hextuning guide. with a similair looking formula for the revlimiter.
if the 2750000 / (141 x 3) is 2750000 / a378 x a379 .
what and where is the 2750000 in the hex ?
so or the formula is incorrect or the tacho or toms reading capabilities are not OK but were getting close.. but still not there...

2750000 / (132 x 3) = 6944 not 6800change value to 132 rev limit rise to 6800.
