Help !
Yes Im new to this. And yes I have been reading everything for a few weeks now and Im stuck.
Im just trying to read my modified 27C256B prom and save it as a bin.
When using the flash and burn program I select the correct chip listed
being the 27C256B and having my chip in the zif with #1 pin twards the lock lever and at the rear of the zif leaving the open not used spaces between the zif lever and the chip. I hit READ and all seems well I save the file and It's all
zeros when viewing it in Tunner Pro. Am I forgetting to put a hex address in the buffer addressing area ? If so what is it ?
Im working with a 88 IROC MT ECM is a 01227165 It has a nice built 383 with Alunim vet heads ported to a Edelbrock intake and opened up large runners and plenum using a 58mm BBK throttle body larger injectors (what size? no clue ) . mild roller cam and rockers headers.
Car runs strong. I just have some issues with the idle not wanting to clam down and low speed chuggle. It's a issue and a pain.
I have checked for vaccume leaks None to be found. When setting base Idle after jumping the ALDL driving the ISC in I am able to get it to idle down and if I want to I can kill it with the blade screw. This tells me no vaccume leaks plus I have done the carb clean squirt leak check with no leaks found. After I set base idle real low like 500-600 rpm and set or adjust the tps the car idles nice and low after a drive my idle is up around 1400. The scanner says Idle 1000 and seems to be locked at that mark. The IAC counts are HIGH like the ECM is disreguarding the 1000 rpm desired on the scanner. One thing I find. Is when Im rolling the idle is very HIGH like 1600 rpm as soon as a stop the idle calms down but it's still way to high like 1350 t0 1500. Timing is on the mark. No EGR
NEW ISC everything look good on the scan
I know this is alot to ask but this is my driver and Im at a wall with this.
Learning curve is up there
Thanks
Carter

Hi thanks for the reply
I just tried changing the mask and Im still not getting anything but zeros..
There is something Im not doing rite when I read a chip to buffer. When I try to read a 16k chip the autoprom goes through the motions or a (read) but when I save it the file size is only 1k and not the expected 16k and of course its all zeros when viewing it in TunnerPro.
Do I need to tell (flash and Burn ) more info then just picking the type of chip Im reading from it's drop down box ? Because the drop down in the app says the exact name of the chip hence it's set to read.
Help
Thanks in advance

yeah, if you can't get the proper filesize after a read, that's problem #1.
you SHOULD be able to pick the correct PROM type from the dropdown list and have the buffer/chip addressing be correct.
are you doing this inside of tunerpro, or the standalone flash and burn program? for some reason, the standalone seems to have more issues with correct addressing.
anyway, using tunerpro, click around on the PROM list, then jump back to 27C128, then attempt to read. if it comes back as a 16KB file, the addressing should now be correct. if not, post the buffer/chip addressing settings.
