error in Open / Closed loop logging/display?

Post by schwad »

I'd like to report there may be bug in the display/logging of the Open / Closed loop condition. The state displayed while driving seemed (based on memory - could be wrong) to be the opposite of what was logged. E.g. logging Closed loop while accelerating and Open loop while decelerating, but while driving showing the opposite.

Is there perhaps a programming error somewhere?

Details:
OS: winXP, SP3
car: 1992 Oldsmobile 88 Royale
TunerPro build 5.00.8040.00
ADX file: A130.adx

Thanks,
-Andrew

it's probably just the ADX that needs tweaking. got a recorded log you can post so it can be investigated?

This is a log that shows it switch between open/closed loop. You can also see the "closed loop correction" bouncing around on the plots. I don't much know what to make of it.

I suspect the log is correct, but the real-time display was wrong.

Thanks,

p.s. Is there a way to attach files to a post? (For future reference.)

couple of things to note in this log:

your O2 sensor is pretty much dead, hence the DTC13. it should be swinging a lot when in closed loop and it's holding near the 400mV mark at almost all times.

with a dead O2, closed loop is pretty much disabled. this may or may not explain the odd status bit.

you also seem to have an intermittent fault on the QDM A circuit. seems to be getting triggered at the exact same time as the brake switch, so it may or may not be correct.

BLM and closed loop correction are the way that the injector pulse width are changed to maintain closed loop operation, constantly sending the actual AFR slightly lean than and slightly richer than stoich.

closed loop correction should look to "swing" the same way the O2 sensor does, just in the opposite direction. BLM should slowly change when the closed loop correction is a significant amount away from 128.

the log and the realtime display use the same information to create the same results.

and no, this forum doesn't allow attaching files directly to posts.
