Do I need Hyper Terminal???

I have a problem with trying to get my TunerPro and OBD Diagnostics cable connecting. I have a 90 GM 1227730 ECM ,, Windows 7 lap top. Top of page on tunerpro program shows,, No Bin Selected/ No XDF Selected,, on the bottom of page it shows,, Not Emulating-Hardware Not Found- Not Ready,,
I guess these two are not connecting and on the instructions for the cable in trouble shooting it shows to start up the 'Hyper Terminal' program but windows 7 does not have that. This is my first attempt at hooking to my trucks ECM so I'm a NewBe,,,,HELP PLEASE
