0411 electric fan configuration

Post by tanvan »

2001 AWD Astro Van 0411 512k P01 PCM. OS Version 12202088

Downloaded my bin w PCMHammer and a VXDiag VCX Nano, edited the bin, flashed the PCM after testing with one from the junkyard. I added pins into C1 42 Blue and C2 33 Green and wired them into relays to run a 2 speed crown victoria fan. The relays and fans work as expected (I wired in the PCM trigger pins last and grounded either one which turned the fan on high or low depending on which one I grounded).

Trying to get electric fans going. Have everything wired up but when I turn the van on, the fan just runs all the time despite that not being what my calibration says at all. I also drove around some and the fan did not turn off even though I was going 50mph. Attached image are the settings I have set in my PCM currently. Does something look wrong with that calibration?

Here is my expected fan behavior: Start van, no fans until fan one on temp. Turn on AC, fan turns on. Turn off AC fan turns off. Drive over 35mph fans turn off regardless of AC or engine temp.

update: 12202088 is not compatible with efans, I found other people reporting this, the fan just turns on when the engine starts and runs forever regardless of speed.

I hacked together a 12212156 bin (had to turn the EGR back on and move some stuff over) and put it in the van and i have fans that work now

Thanks hope this helps someone
