Willem Programmers
Are the Willem programmer any good? I have seen thenm alot cheaper that any other and you can read, erase, and burn from the 2723 a,b,c to the 27sf512. I have noticed the the burn1 can only do this with only 3 chips. Is there a reason that they are cheaper? I guess i am wondering which programmer to start with and i would like to get all i can for less.

I have a Willems dual power.
So far all I've used mine for is reading, but hopfully that will change within the next couple of days.
From what I have read the Willems programmers are more difficult to set-up than other burners/readers, and some people never get thier's going. This is the second one I've used, the first one was borrowed.
Once set-up, whihc admittedly can be a bit difficult, depending on your level of computer know-how.
FYI, the burner (any actually) will only read and program the 2732/27C*** type chips, you need an UV eraser to erase that stype of chip.

oops ...i meant 2732.. The willem says it can read and burn the uv erasable 2732, from what i was reading, but the burn1 dont ...is this correct... do you think that the $89 willem at this site is better to start with ...it says that it can almost do everything or am i reading wrong.. http://www.mcumall.com/comersus/store/c ... oduct=3154

I read the same thing. You might want to post that question on moates.net though, Craig will have a difinitive answer about that.ww228king wrote:oops ...i meant 2732.. That programmer looks good, and may have to look into getting that one, if the new (to me) laptop I'll be getting soon doesn't have a parallel port, or a USB dongle doesn't work.
I have this one currently: http://www.mcumall.com/comersus/store/c ... oduct=3081
I suspect that the Burn1 cannot produce the 25 Vpp and 21 Vpp the 2732 and the 2732A need for programming respectively. The chips the Burn1 can handle all need lesser programming voltages.
Maybe it can handle a 2732B or 27C32 as I think they only need 12.5 Vpp. This is definitely a question for Craig though.
