reading tuned chip and getting odd data

Post by trollhole »

Sorry for the newb question.

Have a 7747. Bought a custom chip for my inline 6. WHile the chip works ok and most of my bugs have been worked out of it I want to fine tune it myself. So I bought a APU1 from Moates. Chip is a 2732 or what I think is a 2732 since it has 24 pins. I can read it with the prom function. No problem there. Problem is getting the correct data. When I use the $42 7477-mine.ecu file loaded in some of the data seems correct but things like cylinder select show 228. There is no way that is correct. Right? Could it be my ecu is something other than a 7747? Outside the ecu box it's completely blank. ANy other way to get my tables correct for my data by just looking at the data?

Thanks for any help you can get me.

Pretty sure I got it with the help of one of your members. Ended up I was using the wrong XDF file. The label on my ECM had been removed at some point and I had no idea what it was. Turns out it was an 8062 not a 7747. Have the correct one from Moates and all is good in the world. Thanks again.

Now comes the fun.

Well now I can read the data but only see all of 3 flags/switches. So now I have my custom bin, my correct xdf file am I missing something that would show me the rest of the flags or switches or is this all a $4e program would have?

Glad to hear you have it figured out.

You'll find that there are very few complete XDFs around. Most people will only add what they feel they need to the XDF, and disregard the rest.

You can, if you have a commented disassembly, add the missing parts of the XDF. Take a look on moates.net fileman for a disassembly of your mask.

Thank you. Thank you. This helps a lot. And makes a lot more sense. I'm new into the whole ECU programing. But I'm the tech director for my company so I have a good understanding of how sytems function.
