problems datalogging - 93 lt1 corvette w/ ostrich adaptor

Post by dizwiz24 »

Hi,

Im having some issues using the datalog feature of TunerPro RT.

I have a 93 LT1 corvette w/ ostrich adapter plugged into my ECM chip socket. I am able to connect/download/upload changes to Ostrich emulator fine.

The issues I have is w/ the ALDL data logging portion.

I cannot connect to ECM and get connection failed message when I try to connect.

First things first:
When ALDL datalogging, should I be able to datalog through the Ostrich emulator adapter USB cable (which I use to upload/download changes to the cars computer)?

Or do I need the cable connected to the ALDL port (with the proper ALDL port USB adapter?)

The ALDL port does work somewhat, as Im able to retrieve limited frame scanning data on my primitive Auto X-Ray scantool.

I have downloaded the DA2 .xdf and .ads files and set those up in the ALDL setup tab.

I tried messsing around with COM ports in the preference tab to no avail. Every time I hit 'apply' and test cable, it does not detect PCM.

On a final note, this program is wonderful. Thank you for developing it !!!

You cannot datalog with the Ostrich. You need an ALDL interface for that (such as the ALDU1 from Moates). Your 93 LT1 uses DA3, not DA2 (DA2 is for 92 LT1).

Mark,

If I understand you correctly...With an ostrich on it, I will not be able to datalog from the ALDL diagnostic port?

But, with a chip instead of ostrich inserted into the ECM slot, I can datalog from the ALDL port?

No, you can aboslutely log via ALDL with the Ostrich connected. You cannot, however, use the Ostrich hardware as an ALDL interface.

I tried again datalogging with TunerPro RT tonight using the cable I had with TTS Datamaster (Which is an ALDL cable with serial connector and USB converter on it). This was with the cable connected to the ALDL port. It still did not work.

I had browsed and selected the $DA3 1992-93LT1.ads file. I tried 'connect to ECM' in the ALDL setup tab and got a 'connection failed' error. This was with key on, engine off. Other times when Ive tried with key on engine on, the result was the same. My auto x-ray frame scanner, picks up data fine from the ALDL port.

I downloaded everything on a different laptop, tried again, and this time got a 'failed to initialize serial port' error or something of the like.

Are there any other things I can check out, like in preferences? Or is ALDL datalogging usualy pretty straightforward?
