Just tried V5 can't get $42 to connect

Post by jim_in_dorris »

Well, I am not sure if I missed something, but V4 works fine, switch to V5 and the DA:button at the bottom says connecting but never does. I did make sure that the ports are the same, used the same xdf/bin and converted the ads to adx ($42). I like playing with adding dashboard stuff, I just can't connect. I just bought the laptop today so I could use V5, as the old laptop wouldn't run XP.

Try imprting "7747_mine.ads", I used that one as a base (added a few things to it), and didn't have problems with V5, that I can recall.

Also, try the latest version of V5, there was a problem importing the xdf I believe in a previous build, might have effected ads/x as well.

robert, thanks, i would like to get this working. I am converting my 87 to $0D soon, and working on a friends $0D 383 TPI install as well, and the added features of V5 make sense. if I need to PM you an email address let me know. I really will need the $42 and $0D ADX's and haven't seen them posted anywhere yet. I spent a couple of months with some help from the thirdgen guy's and built a completely clean $0D asm to match the BCC bin I am using for my truck, so I have some time invested in $0D and want to continue learning it.

no problem, i have made a 0D ADX already that i'm fairly certain other people have used with success before. i don't suppose you were involved with making the "advanced 0D v175" or whatever it was?

No, I definitely was not involved in the advanced $0D V175 xdf. I didn't even start learning tuning when that was created. I am just learning tuning, but was a professional programmer who wrote firmware so this is really fun for me. And thanks for the $42 file, I will be attempting to connect V5 this weekend and will let everyone know how it goes.

Okay, I tried the $42.ADX that you sent me. No joy in Mudville. I still get the DA:Connecting message, and even after 10 minutes it hasn't connected.
I can bring up TPRTV4 and it connects immediately. What do I try next?

Hmm. Well, plesae email me the working ADS from v4, and the not-working, imported XDF when opening the ADS in v5.

My guess is that this may be another port timing issue in v5, that I still haven't figure it out. This is the same issue remedied my adding latency to port driver settings, or by adding inter-command timeouts. Perhaps that will work for you.

(Sent from vacation...)

Ok, rather than sending emails back and forth and clogging you mail box, can we try to use a command to lengthen the time it looks for a response and see if that works?

It's 160 baud. It will look for a response until you tell it to stop trying by hitting the connect/disconnet button.
