Data Logging with Data Masters or Tuner Pro RT

Post by bcollida »

I registered and downloaded TunerPro RT today.

In the past I was using Tuner Pro, Burn2 and DataMasters for data logging and chip burning.

It appears that Tuner Pro RT has data logging capabilities.

Questions:
1) Is there an advantage to data logging with Tuner Pro RT instead of data logging with DataMasters?

2)Regardless of which tool I use to datatlog, I'm guessing the data log stream will come from the ALDL cable just like I've always been using. ( versus coming out of the emulator)

3)I'll be using the Moates Ostrich for emulation. I am asuming I'll use 1 com port to comunicate with the Ostrich for Real time updates to ECM and I'll use a second port to capture the data log through ALDL.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts

Answering my questions:

1) From my short experience data logging with Tuner Pro RT, its a more useful tuning tool than datamasters. Tuner Pro has a better monitoring window, shows more data elements out of the box and this aldl tracing looks like it could be super cool but I haven't used it yet

2) Yes two different connections

3)No, Under tools preferences you select the com port for emulation./ALDL so you either log or monitor ALDL data or communicate with the emulator but not both at the same time, also meaning you need to plug and unplug the usb cables going to ALDL or the emulator depending on what you're doing

Let me know if I've missed anything

Also, going from burning chips to real time emulation is like stepping out of the stone age. Little things that I wanted to change on my tune I let go because I didn't want to crawl under the dash and pull the chip out "one last time" over and over again.

Tuner Pro RT is a great tool.
