Clearing Trouble Codes

Post by ericnem »

Brand new to this, only been working with it for a couple days. I have an 89 IROC 5.7 TPI all stock. I am using the Arap 6E.bin and the 6E.xdf and the 1227165_6E.ads. Running Windows XP and Tuner Pro RT version 4.14. I have been successful in connecting to the car and reading data and everything seems to accurate but I have a couple questions. I currently have 3 error codes and while connected I try to send the clear trouble codes command and it says "command sent" but the codes do not clear. My packet error count does climb 1-2 per 5 seconds. Not sure if this is normal, I would guess that if I have the correct info, there wouldn't be any errors but I don't know what to expect. So since I am so new, I have the typical newbie questions, do the above files look correct, how can I confirm? Do I need to buy more hardware to be 100% sure, i.e. re-programming / emulation stuff? My goal for now is to start small and use it for some diagnosing and eventually work in to making mods so if I can do this accurately without jumping in and buying a lot more, it would be great. I appreciate the help and look forward to your response(s).

i'm no expert, but i believe the 1227165 does NOT have the SXR chip, which is why you need the 10K resistor to get 8192 data flowing, instead of sending a command like later ECMs...

but maybe i'm wrong.

My aldl cable does have the 10k resistor and it is on A and B. I did have to play with that to get the data flowing at first. It seems data flows in just fine (other than a slowly rising error count), I just cant send the clear codes command.

Any other thoughts out there? Do the files I am using seem correct? Is there any special procedure for clearing the codes with the software?

I have yet to successfully clear trouble codes on an GMECM, including my '165 on the test bench, in a controlled environment. My guess is that it doesn't work. =(

really? works great for me in the A1 and DF masks on a 1227727 and 16149396 respectively.

it also works for my 94-95 speed-density 3100 PCM.
