no comunication

Post by Lloyd Johnson »

I am new to this tuning I have a 730 ecm and tunerpro RT and Craig Moates auto prom and a G-1 adapter. Problem I am having is if I plug in the factory prom which is a AUJP prom the scanner reads the information but has a code 46 which is vats code car wont start. I read the chip cancel the vats program ithe chip plug the chip into the adapter and plug the factory prom in to the adapter and I get no comunication and car wont run. Question is has anybody else had problems with the G-1 adapter or Im I doing something wrong. I have been building this project for 6 months I get it all done put in my 48 buick and all I get to do is here crank over and not run. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Lloyd[/quote]

The G1 is likely not the problem. Are you placing the chip into the G1 correctly? Pin 1 (the notch in the chip) needs to be towards the outside of the adapter (closest to the outer edge).

Post on Moates forum or thirdgen for more visibility.

I am putting the chip in correctly. I went as far as doing a continunity check on all the pins. Still couldnt find anything wrong. But if it is not the G -1 then it must be the chips that I am programing. I have a 8d definition file and I am using a 256 chip. I program the chip then verify it and it says everything is successful. Have any other suggestions as what might be the problem.

the guys at www.thirdgen.org/techbb2 (DIY-PROM) board should have a lot of advice for you. Give them a shot. Inform them of what you've already tried, the details of your setup, etc.
