Tables are Zeros

Post by CMB »

Hi All,

This is my first post and I'm just getting into tuning. I'm having a problem displaying the data after I read the .BIN. I have a 94 3.8L S/C V6 that I got from the wreckers. It's out of a 94 Park Avenue. The ECU is a 16183247 and the Memcal shows BHDR as the bin file. I am using an Autoprom to read the chip. I can read the BIN from the chip but when I open it with TP-V5 the tables have either zeros or large negative numbers (-35). I opened the BIN with the hex editor and there is a file there. Is this a sign that I'm using the wrong XDF. I'm using the $5B for TP-V5 which is supposed to be for this year of car. I've searched for posts with this same problem but I haven't found anything. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

hmm.... are you using TP V4 or V5?

if the XDF was made with V5, it will NOT work correctly in V4.

and i believe the 5B was made in V5, or at least i added/fixed a few things in it while using V5....

i have a BBTD BIN, which is for a 94-95 H-body with a L67 and it shows up correct using the 5B XDF... but if you'd like, you can email me the BIN and i can take a look at it, see if there is any kind of obvious errors in it.

But he said he was using a BDHR.bin Wouldn't that make a differance?

With Robert's help we were able to figure this one out. It turns out that the addressing for saving to the buffer was wrong. The program was reading the chip fine but it was only saving half of the program. It was a good lesson in making sure to check the addressing before reading and saving the file. Thanks again to Robert for the help. It's great to have knowledgeable people to help newbies.

I'm having the same problem. $42 from 7747 ecm. I was using v4 with autoprom and had 75-80 tunes. Since I updated to V5 I must be doing something wrong as all I get in the tables are zeros. This is with either the stock chip or one I had previously burned.
I'm sure it's something simple I doing wrong.
Thank you, Ray

OK, I can read other bins with tunerpro v5 so it must be a reading problem with the autoprom. My computer dumped so I had to reload everything thus starting the problems.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Ray

Fixed!!!! I was trying to use flash and burn to read my chips (should have worked) however as soon as I used TP to read and write chips everything worked well. I knew it was me I was just hoping someone would have caught it.
