Hello everyone, I need a little help getting started on building an .ads file. I have a 94 camaro 3.4L. I have been unable to find an already made .ads file and by reading through the forums here it seems I need to create one using a datastream file. I have located the proper .ds file, A257.
So my question is what information in the a257 correlates to which information in the .ads editor. Everything seems to be labeled with a WORD # in the .ds and everything has byte numbers in the .ads editor. Is there some document that explains how these fit together? If not could someone take a moment to give me a hand with this?
I attempted to use the word #s as byte #s in the .ads editor but that just gave me nonsense when it was plugged in. Thanks.

I really need to write a doc on this. until that time, though, I'll tell you that the 1227165_6E definition included in TunerPro was created from A059.ds, if you want to compare those two.
Note that A059.ds has two streams in it - the 160 baud and the 8192 baud streams.

ok so I have compared the 1227165_6E and A059 and have come to the conclusion that the word# is the byte# and the next column over is the bit number. i set up an ads file using the a257 that is for my vehicle.
my current problem is that not all of the bytes are not returning valid data and some are returning nothing at all. this would lead to the conclusion that i have chosen the wrong .ds file however the following bytes seem to be returning good data
computed AFR
TPS volts
knock retard angle
manifold air temp
so my question is am i making some kind of easy mistake? or should i be looking for a new .ds file and i just got lucky with those particular bytes matching up? alternatively, any other advice would be appreciated.
