TunerPro RT with Moates BURN1?

Post by hencini »

Hi all--

Sorry to ask what is probably an obvious question, but I tried to hunt around for the answer and can't get anything definite. Anyway, what I'm wondering is if you can utilize the TunerPro RT real time programming aspect with Craig Moates BURN1 programmer?

The description on Moates website says the BURN1 is compatable with TunerPro RT, but I would have thought I'd have needed an emulator of some sort to use the real-time feature. Am I off on this?

Also, (and I realize this is highly subjective) how do I determine if real-time programming is something useful to me? I've got a warmed-up AMC 258 in a 1983 Jeep CJ7 and am retrofitting a TBI system from a 4.3L GM motor. I'm not trying to set any land speed records, just get a chip that will run relatively well at all altitudes and under all conditions. A nice middle-of-the-road burn, if you will.

Ideally, I'd like to set it and forget it, but I don't mind doing a little tweaking, either. However, once I've got my middle-of-the-road chip set up, I don't see myself fiddling with it much. I'm on a budget and would like to stay as cheap as possible, but if the real time capability is that much better, I guess I could massage the budget a bit to make it fit. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks and sorry for the long post,

Brian

You can burn chip with tunerpro rt not emulate for that you need a romulator.

You can read engine with rts aldl and get a log (se all the engine data)
change the values in the bin and reburn the chip.

That's pretty much what I thought... Now I just have to figure out if I can justify the extra cost for Moates APU1 package...

Any other input on the benefits of real time tuning are still much appreciated...

Thanks!!
