Pulse Width

Post by J Ludwig »

What is the difference between "Base Pulse Width" and "Total Asynchronus Pulse Width"? Is one of them the time the injectors are open?

BPW is the normal pulse width of the injectors that happen synchronously to the engine rotation.

Async pulse width is extra fuel that gets shot in during periods of high D-TPS.

Thanks, Robert.
My goal is to calculate fuel flow and gallons used. My thought is that I could add the async PW and the base PW, factor in the time between reference pulses and come up with a meaningful number. I noticed that when I stab the throttle quickly, the async PW drops to zero, but the base pulse width increases like I expected. I'm using a microcontroller to obtain and display the parameters. I haven't verified this with TunerPro nor have I driven it on the road. I made a short video that I put on YouTube to show those values.
