Hello,
Just wondering how the conversion in the datastream definition works? is it possible to simply edit a definition and easily change it so that it reads out to be in metric? i.e. km/h, kpa, and so on? or would i have to figure out the conversion math, this is probably pretty obvious, but i seem to be having a brain fart as to figuring it out,
thanks
Tyler

Once again you come to the rescue, thanks, I'm using what I think is one of your definitions, its posted on the main site, and gearhead, its the one i list in my first post on the forums, but i am trying to convert it to use all metric, could i theoretically use the conversion ratio of desired metric/imperial unit to divide the current values that are used in the definition file, if that even makes sense?robertisaar wrote:easily done, assuming you do the math necessary for it.
ex:
(X * 1.35) - 40 = *F
(X * .75) - 40 = *C
that will do your temp conversions for almost every situation. some have odd offsets or scaling, but most follow that format.
i.e (MPH Conversion is) X * 0.500000 + 0.000000
KMH conversion would be X * 0.800000 + 0.000000
looking at this now... i dont think im doing this right...
haha

Ahhhh, Excellent, thank you.
this is quite exciting, hopefully this coming payday (Monday) my better half will side with me on wanting to get a chip burner and some SF512's to try out a few things when i get comfortable, I'm thinking she will as i saved money on the datalogging interface (thanks to your post on gearhead, and help here)
then the fun will really begin.
