Absolute Newbie

Post by HalfDoor »

Hello All!

Ok, so I have a Wrangler TJ I did a V8 conversion to. However, I'm having a problem with the speed limiter. It cuts off way too early...around 55mph.

Engine: 1994 GMC 2500 350/4L80E/NP241 combo with OBD1.

Because I am COMPLETELY new to this, is there a "How-To" guide somewhere? I would only need to burn the one chip because I don't plan to do any others. But, I may want to change the settings later so I figure I'd rather do it myself than send it away. Besides, I think this would be fun.

What hardware do I need? Emulator, socket holder, chip..
What software do I need to program? Definitions and etc..

I'm really sorry for asking this "all-in-one" question but I can't find the "how-to" if one exists.

Thanks in advance.

when you did the swap did you grab the wire harness and ECM that came with the engine?

From the downloads page:

A218_0D_Trans2_v250.adx

94-95 C/K 4.3L, 5.7L & 7.4L

if you have the wire harness and ECM that were original to vehicle that engine came from this should work for you or at least get you started, you'll need a cable to connect to the ALDL port, search the net for your needs, I have a 91 Silverado K2500 350 with 700R4 but it is ODB1 so my setup is a little different than yours. install TunerPro and connect the ALDL cable this will let you datalog, to tune and burn and edit the bin files is beyond my current skill set... hope this is what you were looking for
