Maybe I"m doing something wrong on this...
But here's what's happening...
I sometimes run both Tunercat RT and Tunerpro RT at the same time. I can get them to share COM PORT 3 using the same USB cable hooked up to the Ostrich II by doing the following:
1.) Shut down TC
2.) Activate emulation on TP by pressing the emulation button (with the little computer chip icon on it). Do whatever programming I need.
3.) Then Tools => Release Emulation hardware
4.) Re-Fire up TC and it'll automatically find COM PORT 3.
On step 2 above, If I push the emulation button again, the emulation will shut off. But it doesn't release the COM PORT, so when I fire up TC, it can't connect back to COM PORT 3.
I have to go to Tools => Release Emulation Hardware, and then TC can claim COM PORT 3.
When I"m on the road with the laptop, the extra steps are kind of a pain. It'd be nicer if toggling the emulation button actually releases COM PORT 3 too.
Thanks,
-Mike

Re: Easier way to "Release Tuning Hardware"?
the issue with that is some hardware can still communicate and datalog while not emulating so that would screw over us ford guys who very seldom emulate while logging too unless initially setting up a tune
maybe adding a check box option in the preferences would be most ideal so folks can have the choice

Re: Easier way to "Release Tuning Hardware"?
I'm able to datalog and emulate simultaneously either with TP or TC...
The datalogging cable uses a different USB port, which doesn't interfere with TC.

Re: Easier way to "Release Tuning Hardware"?
Decipha is correct - this would cause other problems for some hardware.
Instead, why not assign a keyboard shortcut in TunerPro to release of the hardware? The option is there.

That worked, thanks!!
Didn't realize TP had those features.
